Ask for Clive and Pub Pride 2026

What is Pub Pride 2026?

Pub Pride 2026 takes place on Friday 29th May 2026. This day of celebration kicks off pride month, which runs from June 1st to June 30th 2026.

Pub Pride 2026 is an initiative ran by Ask For Clive. The Ask For Clive campaign collaborates with venues to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion, create welcoming spaces, and enforce a zero-tolerance policy against LGBTQ+ discrimination and hate. #AskForClive has partnered with the NTIA to broaden their reach and the scope of their activity.

NDML and Ask For Clive

Ask For Clive is founded by Clive Duffy who began the campaign by handing out pack including stickers which help identify venues who support inclusion and are against homophobia. NDML met Clive Duffy at NTE 2026, where he told us a little bit more about the campaign and his great work with the NTIA.

Clive Duffy: “At Ask For Clive, we use a sticker to identify the venues, of which we have around 3,500 in the UK at the moment, to show they are part of the campaign and have undergone training against homophobia. They show they will not tolerate any form of hate, be it racism, homophobia or sexism.

“Furthermore, we are a one of the few organisations who will publicly revoke a membership if something has gone severely wrong and that venue won’t take steps to rectify a situation and make theirs a safe space.”

“Ask for Clive has been running now for six years. The organisation came into being after a group of allies witnessed homophobia and transphobia in their city. We want to do something similar to Ask For Angela, and in partnership with them, Ask For Clive was born. The organisation was named in my honour and my work in the LGBT community.”

“Its all about inclusion. It includes focus on the disable being able to access a public space, blind accessibility, deaf accessibility – many things that people aren’t aware of when building or moving into a new venue.

“Under our umbrella are churches, universities, collages, theatre, cinemas, bars, restaurants, nightclubs – anywhere where you go out socially. An antique shop in Dorset joined – which is fantastic; although we do specialise in pubs and clubs. Those businesses know the benefit of being an inclusive business.

“To join the campaign, operators should go to our website, fill in the membership, and register. Registration is only £25 per venue. Training is included with the membership, and every year it is updated and renewed.”
