What is the role of an Account Executive?

Learning from Lee Peters, NDML’s experienced Account Executive

Account Executives are the faces of the insurance industry. They often travel across the country visiting clients. They are the first port-of-call when it comes to claims, renewals and improving a client’s insurance policies.

Account Executives need to have excellent customer service and a knack for building relations. They also require extensive knowledge of the insurance landscape and how to best adapt to the needs of the client.

Someone who has all these traits and more is NDML’s new Account Executive, Lee Peters. Lee has been integral to the Romero Insurance Group for several years, working within our Private Clients division. NDML has gained an experienced team member, one who is ready for the fast-paced environment of British nightlife.

No one is better suited to give us a run down of the responsibilities of an Account Executive than Lee.

Lee Peters, NDML Account Executive:

“I’m excited to be growing as an Account Executive within the Romero Group, now as part of the NDML team. My main responsibilities include going out and seeing venues; I like to operate face to face, offering advice and reassurance to both longstanding and prospective clients. I also regularly manage a range of accounts, orchestrating new business as well as renewals. I’m still building my book of clients – currently I have clients all the way up in Edinburgh down to Bognor Regis (I’m going to a venue there next week actually).

One of my favourite responsibilities is supporting the MVT, Music Venues Trust. They are a charity that reaches out to grassroots venues; I work on their behalf to offer specialist insurance advice. Grassroots music venues offer more than a career pathway for major artists; they are knitted into the fabric of British culture. Safeguarding the future of grassroots music is an I am very passionate about.

I’ve been in the insurance world now for 17 years. I previously worked as Client Manager in the Private Clients division of the Romero Group. I dealt with personal insurance which involved getting to know the clients and their individual needs, delivering a portfolio of insurance policies, covering everything from their car to their house to their valuable artwork. I had built a great relationship with my clients but I’m excited for the challenge that NDML brings.

A little bit about me; I’m very into my live music, I’d say my music taste is ‘eclectic’ ranging from old school garage to any band playing live. I also enjoy my sport; either golf or cricket. I coach my local cricket club on weekends and recently received the Derek Shuttleworth Award. I enjoy a challenge which is why I’m so eager to kick on with my new team.

I’m most excited to meet new clients and go to venues I’ve never been to before. I’ve seen 4 or 5 live music venues in the last month alone. What I’ve noticed is the affect the festival season is having on local venues. Ticketed events and festivals are attracting music lovers; many of my clients are eager to adapt and create a ticketed event. I’ve been following requests for events insurance – this is an increase to the original policy as many events have increased risk and increased capacity. It’s great that at NDML we are able to provide immediate extra cover for current events, the earlier the client tells us the better and then we can get all the details together.

If any of our NDML clients require events insurance, or if a new music venue wants to enquire about our policies, contact me directly. I’ve really enjoyed my first month with NDML and can’t wait to see what the year will bring.”
